John Williams Workshops, Saturday December 8

10 - 11am Irish Concertina and Accordion Workshop
Players will benefit from Mr. Williams musicianship and educational background on these unique free reed instruments. Students will learn essential skills heretofore thought to be the domain of percussion, woodwind, and keyboard instruments. Enduring classic tunes will be taught that are as musical as they areinstructional. Tape recorders and open ears required as well as a willingness to chart a departure from students' current developmental plateau to the next phase of music making on Irish Concertina and Accordion.
$25

11am - 12pm Irish Repertoire Workshop
Like all exponents of the vast repertory of Irish Traditional Music, John Williams has forgotten and countlessly rediscovered more tunes than most players have learned. John will not only share an extensive array of classics, essentials, and survivors, but he will also impart his approach to controlling the growth of repertoire while fighting back the decay. Tunes will be selected on the basis of how many miles per gallon a useful session or ceili player would experience under standard operating conditions. Flute and tin whistle players, pipers, concertina and accordion players as well as guitarists, bouzouki players, bodhranists, and piano players are likely to benefit from this compelling and rare one hour workshop.
