Dáithí Sproule will describe his practical methods for composing instrumental pieces on guitar, both as stand-alone melodies and for instrumental breaks in songs and tunes. It's not as mysterious as it may seem! And beautiful sounds do not have to be complicated!

1:30-2:50 James Kelly & Dáithí Sproule Conversation with James Kelly Interview all are welcome One of the masters of traditional Irish fiddle, James Kelly was raised in a household in Dublin where the greats of the music world were friends and frequent visitors: James is unequalled for his deep knowledge of their varied styles as well his command of variation -- this is bound to be a fascinating and entertaining conversation.

Danielle Enblom Dancing from West Kerry Dance all levels Sets have been danced in West Kerry for as long as people can remember. To this day, different parts of the county have their own set dance associated with it. In this class learn to dance the basic steps for polkas and slides, then dive into a figure or two of the West Kerry Set, a popular dance from Meabh Begley's part of the world.

A uniquely inspiring musician, James grew up in Dulbin, immersed in the sounds of the greatest traditional music of that time. James teaches fiddle to students across the United States and Ireland and is well known for his deep well of knowledge of the tradition as well as his detail-oriented approach to the art of Irish fiddling.

1:30-2:50 Brian Miller Accompanying Tunes on the Irish Bouzouki Bouzouki int-adv Brian will describe his approach to bouzouki backing (or octave mandolin, cittern, etc.) for both instrumental and vocal music and teach some important fundamentals and tricks of the trade. Suitable for newcomers to Irish backing as well as those who already do it but are looking to expand their palette.
