*Online*
Wednesdays, April 15 - May 20, 2026 | $113
While traditional music is often thought of as ancient or fixed, composition and creativity have always been key elements in the living tradition of Irish music. In this class, Dáithí will use recordings of music and song by known composers in the Irish tradition from various eras — ranging from O’Carolan to Ed Reavy, Liz Carroll and Shaun Davey — to explore the interplay of composition, creativity and the nurturing of a folk tradition. Students are welcome to learn the tunes, but this online class will be discussion-based and no previous musical experience is necessary.
