In the world of traditional song, we are fortunate enough to have a whole world of beautiful and striking melodies and lyrics to work with, and our decisions on guitar approach can enhance those qualities — or mar them. Dáithí Sproule, who has had a life-long interest in this, will share his insights and show what can be done with a sensitive approach to guitar accompaniment. Each week, Dáithí will guide students through specific arrangements of songs that he has recorded and performed through his career —with Skara Brae, Altan, Trian, with Laura MacKenzie, and solo — and bring out features that can be applied to other songs.
