A session is a time and place where musicians and music-lovers come together to enjoy traditional Irish music in a social context. Musicians sit in a circle with their instruments while listeners gather around to chat, listen and encourage the musicians.
We are pleased to announce our visiting Master Artists for Minnesota Irish Music Weekend, happening June 9-12, 2022! Join the Center for Irish Music for this unique festival that pairs world-class traditional Irish musicians and teachers with learners of all ages for a weekend of workshops, lectures, sessions and concerts.
Thank you to everyone who made Éigse CIM, a Virtual Gaela Event a success on February 26th. With nearly 400 registered guests (and many more joining via YouTube and Facebook), we raised over $50,000 in donations and brought in an additional $13,000 through our record-breaking silent auction!
A gathering place for nearly two decades of music sessions and craic, Keegan’s Irish Pub on University Avenue was one of the first restaurant casualties of the pandemic, closing its doors in June 2020. Fortunately, the dedicated crew of traditional Irish music lovers and Center for Irish Music students who met there every Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. for the Keegan’s Learners Session has hardly missed a beat.
